Begin with the way your building is used
The most useful first conversation covers more than square footage. Explain what happens in the building, where activity has been reported, and who can provide access. Mention shared walls, storage areas, outdoor waste areas, or a neighboring unit when they are relevant.
If your organization has vendor requirements, reporting needs, or restrictions on access, raise them at the start. AML can confirm whether the requested work and arrangements fit the service offered.
- Property address and the best on-site contact.
- Affected rooms and any photos or dated pest reports.
- Operating hours and times when spaces are occupied.
- Areas that require permission, an escort, or special access.
Make pest reports useful
A short, consistent sighting record helps separate recurring activity from isolated reports. Record the date, room or location, what was observed, and any associated condition such as a leak or open loading door. Encourage staff to report sightings promptly rather than guessing at a pest identification.
EPA's guidance for buildings connects pest management with inspection, monitoring, communication, and maintenance. These are useful principles when discussing a commercial plan; the actual service and reporting arrangements should be agreed with AML.
Connect prevention with daily operations
Routine housekeeping and building maintenance can remove conditions pests use. Examples include keeping waste containers closed, addressing plumbing leaks, and checking door seals. Storage and delivery areas deserve attention because incoming items and frequently opened doors can create opportunities for pests.
Assigning a contact for maintenance concerns helps a recommendation reach the person able to act on it. If separate companies handle cleaning, repairs, or waste collection, include those responsibilities in your internal plan.
Agree on the scope before work begins
Ask what the proposed service includes, what staff must prepare, and whether any areas need to be kept clear during or after treatment. Discuss timing, costs, communication, and follow-up. Send any industry-specific vendor requirements before booking so AML can confirm whether the proposed arrangement meets your needs.
Your questions, answered
Can AML work around our opening hours?
Share your operating hours and access needs when you inquire. Scheduling and availability must be confirmed directly with AML.
Can you meet our vendor or documentation requirements?
Send the requirements before booking. AML can confirm what documentation and service arrangements are available for your property.
Should staff use their own pest-control products?
Coordinate pest concerns through the property's designated contact. Tell AML what has already been applied so any proposed service accounts for it.
